Well... I'm here again.
This is probably the most involved background I've had for a while. Inspired by pictures I've seen of autumn leaves and colors. It was very fun to do. Very bright.
The two ponies here are probably the first 'customs' I've ever designed. Ever. I happened upon some REALLY old and first ever MLP art from WAAAAAY back when and it was these two; Skywalker and Autumn, although when I first drew her, her name was Summer. She was also a little bit different as far as colors; there was a lot more yellow in her mane and tail, but I opted to put in some more reds, since you see a lot of that in autumn anyway.
Skywalker has a special place in my heart. When I first designed him, years and years and years and years and years ago, he was a lot more brown and his mane and tail was a lot more, well, blond, like Luke Skywalker, but with a few more gold highlights. I lightened him up a lot here and did his mane and tail differently; it's more white with a few blue streaks, a light brown streak, and a soft yellow streak. His symbol, though, is mostly the same, except the clouds used to have shoes walking on them and not birds flying through them. So, I've come up with this scenario; when he was born, his mother spotted the tiny white dots surrounding his symbol, thought they looked like baby slippers and thus, with the clouds, swirly lines and birds, she dubbed him, Skywalker.
It's also true that when I came up with him, I was very much - well, I still am, really - a big Star Wars fan, particularly of Luke Skywalker, and so named this character after him. For a time, I think I had even MADE him Luke Skywalker AS a pony. Silly, ain't I?
Anyway, like Blue Belle and Blue Blazes these two are sweethearts. Unlike them, Skywalker is a Pegasus, but he lost his wings, hence the scars on his back. I'm thinking that he may one day get them back, but I'm not sure yet. And on Autumn, she has the gene to be a Pegasus, or to carry the gene or something, but she will also become a Pegasus one day.
I love the swirly lines on Skywalker and I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to keep that marking on him when I use him in my story. Has anyone seen the Azar or Papilo (SP?) breeds by Boribaby? She draws horses so wonderfully but those breeds she invented have markings unique to each. I'd like to do something like that with my own breed when I get them going enough.
Another thing; Skywalker's name may have to be something else. Anyone reads that name and they're going to think; "Oh, Star Wars!" Especially Mr. Lucas. Any ideas?
Well, this is the last inbetween 'break' art I'll do. I'm going to get those prize pictures done and then submit then, and then get that last commission finished. Please pass on the word that I am still accepting them.
Thanks for looking!
